Gomez joined CHA in September of 2010. During his tenure, CHA has streamlined its operations, expanded services to include bilingual behavioral health, cardiology, and nutrition services, and significantly improved its financial situation.
Board President Diane Wara, MD, of Stinson Beach, said "The CHA Board of Directors is saddened by Rafael’s departure. He has led us to a position of financial strength, and reorganized our clinical and administrative staff to provide outstanding service and medical care. The Board is now fully committed to identifying a new Executive Director who will further strengthen our programs and position us as an even more outstanding provider of health care for all of West Marin. We look forward to new opportunity and further growth to best serve our communities. "
Dr. Mike Witte, CHA founder and Medical Director, said "When our search committee reviewed 77 applicants for our Executive Director position two years ago, it was clear that Rafael Gomez was a very special candidate. We have not been disappointed. Rafael has brought a stamp of quality to CHA that will clearly endure, and has launched us into the Health Reform era as a high quality organization with all the tools to continue to improve. As he transitions out over the next several months, we will dearly miss him. He will leave as a fine leader and as a friend."
