Covered California

Covered California is the place where Californians can get brand-name health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA or “Obamacare”). It’s the only place to get federal premium assistance to help you buy private insurance. This means you may qualify for a discount on private insurance, or get health insurance through the state’s Medi-Cal program. Either way, you’ll get great health coverage.

While many consumers are uncertain about the long-term future of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and Covered California, for 2019 the ACA is currently the law of the land and financial help is available to make health insurance more affordable.  You can sign up for 2019 coverage from Oct. 15, 2018, to Jan. 15, 2019. Individuals with special qualifying life events can enroll at any time of the year. Medi-Cal enrollment is also year-round.

Do you have questions?  For more information and/or to enroll, contact our Certified Enrollment Counselor at our enrollment hotline:

Covered California uses a patient-centered benefit design which means that consumers can shop across our different health insurance companies knowing that the benefits are the same, depending on metal tier, no matter which company they choose.
